This service has clinics at the Genitourinary (GU) Medicine Building at City Hospital and Victoria Health Centre in the City Centre. Community clinics are also held at health centres.

Clinics are held at both Victoria Health Centre and Nottingham City Hospital Hub. They are open:

Diabetes (DESMOND)

Support to help manage your diabetes. DESMOND (Diabetes Education and Self-Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed) is a structured group education programme for individuals with Type 2 diabetes.

The DESMOND course can be accessed by anyone over 18 years of age with a confirmed diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes not treated with insulin.

DESMOND is free to access and is currently delivered from at various locations in Nottingham City.

Nottingham Recovery Network

Nottingham Recovery Network provide a single point of free support, advice and treatment to anyone in Nottingham City who wishes to change their relationship with alcohol or drugs.

You can either refer yourself to the service or be referred by a third party such as a doctor or a support worker on the number or email address below. Our staff will then:

  • Complete a comprehensive assessment of people’s needs
  • Support them through appropriate treatment
  • Support them after any treatment(s) to maintain their recovery.
  • Offer them opportunities to learn and develop.

Mental Health, Talking Therapies & IAPT (Age 17.5+)

Notts Talk (Ages 17 ½ and over)

Nottinghamshire Talking Therapies (notts-talk.co.uk)

Available to anyone aged 17.5+ and registered with a GP in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, or Bassetlaw.

The service will provide support for people experiencing mild/moderate symptoms of common mental health problems, including:

  • Low mood or depression
  • Worry or anxiety
  • Stress
  • Panic
  • Trauma
  • Issues related to long-term health conditions
  • Phobias

The service will offer a range of talking therapies, resources, and support, including:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Counselling for depression
  • Dynamic interpersonal therapy (DIT)
  • Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Interpersonal therapy
  • Couple’s therapy for depression

Therapy will be provided in-person, via video call, over the phone, in live webinars, or on digital platforms.

Autism Team

Children with Autism – Nottingham City Council

The Children with Autism Team support schools to include children and young people with Autism and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. They advise on strategies and resources, and work alongside staff in schools to help meet the needs of children and young people.

There is a named teacher in every City school and the time is allocated in individual need.

Podiatry Service

Community Podiatry – Specialist Services | Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

This service is for:

  • All ages
  • Patients registered at a GP practice in Nottingham City.
  • People with complications associated with long-term conditions such as diabetes, vascular disease, neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.
  • Multiple and complex podiatric needs including wound management and tissue viability
  • Nail surgery – these do not need to be referred to Podiatric surgery
  • Biomechanical problems e.g., gait/postural problems
  • Acute foot and ankle problems and conditions
  • Foot complications associated with diabetes needing referral to secondary care foot clinics

Exclusions:

  • Verruca
  • Fungal Nails
  • Simple/social nail care
  • Corns/calluses (if no other medical conditions)
  • Diabetic foot ulceration – please contact your GP immediately in this instance.

Nottingham NHS Urgent Care Centre

The urgent treatment centre provides assessments and treatment if you need help with a health problem that is urgent, but not life-threatening. It is a walk-in service and is open 365 days per year. No appointment is needed.

Opening: Daily from 7am – 7pm

The centre offers assessment and treatment for health conditions such as:

  • Minor burns or scalds
  • Minor head injury with no loss of consciousness
  • Skin infections or animal bites
  • Suspected broken bones, sprains and strains (x-ray service available)
  • Eye infections or minor eye injuries

The centre is NOT appropriate for:

  • Non-urgent treatment that could be treated by your GP
  • Dental-related problems
  • Routine services such as blood tests or wound dressing/suture removal

Trent Bridge Community Trust – Weight Management Programme

This is a FREE 12-week weight management programme aimed to help participants lose weight and put the building blocks in place to make long-term changes to their health and wellbeing.

Each weekly session will consist of a 45-minute educational workshop (covering issues such as physical activity, diet or sleep) and a 45-minute physical session (including activities such as group fitness, gym-based exercise and organised sport).

The key aim of the programme is to help participants lose weight – we hope to see weight loss of at least 5% by the end of the 12-week cycle – and we also hope to provide individuals with the information they need to make informed choices about their diet and activity.

Tier 2 Weight Management – Oviva

Oviva Tier 2 Weight Management programme is a 12-week programme that puts people in control of their health by offering personalised support from a health coach or dietitian. It is a 100% remote service which means you can take part from the comfort of your own home and receive support at a time that suits you.

You will have the choice to be matched with your own personal health coach or a coach-led support group to help you through your journey. You will also have the choice to receive support either via the Oviva app over secure app messaging, or over phone/video calls.

The programme can help you to:

  • Lose weight
  • Improve the quality of your diet
  • Learn about the benefits of having healthy balanced meals
  • Increase your confidence to achieve your goals
  • Self-manage your wellbeing effectively

Eligibility:

  • Aged 18 years or above
  • Registered with a GP practice in Nottingham City or a resident in Nottingham City
  • BMI more than or equal to 25 (or 23 for people of Black African, African-Caribbean and Asian origin)

Exclusion:

  • Severe or moderate frailty
  • Pregnancy
  • Diagnosed eating disorder
  • Had bariatric surgery in last two years
  • Have an underlying medical cause for obesity that requires intensive clinical management rather than a tier 2 community weight management programme
  • Have significant unmanaged co-morbidity
  • Currently attending a weight management programme
