Emergency Prescriptions

Emergency prescriptions requests are requests for medication which you need within 24 hours to prevent you becoming severely unwell.

Emergency medications are normally only the following:

  • Epileptic medication
  • Insulin
  • Antianginal
  • Steroids
  • Steroid inhaler for lung conditions
  • Epipens for anaphylaxis

Emergency prescription requests are not requests for medication which have been ordered late or should have been collected from the hospital pharmacy following clinic or discharge.

Urgent prescriptions will only be available for collection between 5:00pm – 6:30pm.

This policy will help the Doctor to deal with patients with urgent and potentially life threatening medical problems

Repeat Prescriptions

Patients may request a repeat prescription by leaving a written request form at the reception desk.

Alternatively you can register for our online services and order via the link at the top of this page.

The prescription will be available for collection within 48 hours of your request. In most cases your prescription will be ready after 13:00 on the following working day, but please allow up to 2 working days.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
